OUTTA MY NAME-- a sly, subversive comedy-- sends up something we take for granted. Every job interview begins with a simple question-- Name? What could go wrong? Lots. And yet...a woman who's ridiculed for her unusual name unexpectedly discovers the power of connecting. It's a sweet revenge tale for outsiders. Plus, you'll never think about apostrophes the same way again.

OUTTA MY NAME (4 mins.) stars Cecelia Antoinette, Elena McGhee and Willie C. Carpenter

Written & Directed by Cathleen Campbell

Cecelia Antoinette and Khadim Diop in “Langston Hughes’ NO CRYSTAL STAIR”

Based on the Harlem Renaissance’s great Langston Hughes' poem with the famous line-- "Life for me ain't been no crystal stair."  The film is set in the present.  It starts with an angry teenager storming off, refusing to listen to his mother.  As she searches all around Harlem to find him, it becomes clear how much she loves him.  The only dialogue is taken straight from the poem.

Starring Cecelia Antoinette and Khadim Diop.
